What a surprise. This book is a great read. While it looked like an interesting topic, I was afraid it might be a bit dry or boring. But the authors did such a great job of using real world examples that it pulled you in and was a real pleasure to read. It offered very insightful views and analysis of many well known, and some not so well known, events. A very useful tool for expanding how we look at systems in our ever more complex world. I had never thought too much about tightly coupled systems but I will now, especially on Thanksgiving. I highly recommend this book. As a lifelong preschool teacher, I've spent zero time in the world of business, project management, and systems design...but I found this book compelling. It offers insights into how people tend to think and operate - on their own and in groups - and what the catastrophic impacts of those behaviors can be. I particularly appreciated learning more about the value of diverse perspectives for avoiding "groupthink" that can lead to disasters. In addition to the larger take-away messages of the book, I enjoyed a peek into so many different industries and incidents - very engaging.
